You are maybe wondering about the reference to knots? One of my interests is macramé, which comes from the French word for ‘knot.’ This textile art involves knotting cords by hand to form intricate patterns. I often use macramé as a metaphor for therapy and life.
At times, we all encounter moments when we feel "knotted up" in the story of our lives. As we navigate through life, we all face knots—those difficult, challenging, or painful experiences that can become part of our personal narrative. Therapy is about becoming more aware of these knots. Much like in macramé, where every knot plays a role in the larger design, the tough moments in our lives are part of the bigger picture. Therapy doesn’t aim to undo these knots but to provide space for reflection, helping us understand how they fit into our broader story. In this way, we can learn to move through life recognising how our struggles or struggles presented to us, contribute to who we are.
Just like in macramé, each knot is essential to the structure and integrity of the design. Similarly, in life, our challenges—while difficult—help shape our growth, resilience, and self-awareness. The beauty of both therapy and macramé lies in understanding that it's not about unraveling the knots, but about learning to live with them, understand them, and find strength in how they shape us.

I facilitate a supportive environment for families or groups of people to come together and share their perspectives. I have experience in working with separated families; working in a specialised service working with families affected by child sexual abuse and I have also worked on a family therapy farm. This wealth of experience in working with families has enabled me to facilitate difficult conversations where everyone's voice can be heard and new understandings developed. Out of this work families figure out their own ways forward that are meaningful to them.
Email me and I will arrange a time to talk to you over the phone so you can ask me questions and see if I am the best therapist for you. We can then agree a time that suits you for our sessions to start. I charge £50.00 per session and I also offer a 90 minute session for £65.00. Family sessions are £75.00 per session and I allow 90 minutes for this as there are more voices to be heard.
